What is a Lego lift?
A Lego lift is an external elevator built onto the outside of an existing building. Instead of installing the lift inside a pre-built shaft, Al Maamoura erects a modular steel structure against the wall of the villa or building, with the cabin and rails housed inside that external frame. The lift connects to the building at each floor through new or existing doorways.
Why is it called a Lego lift?
The name reflects how the lift is assembled. The external steel structure is built up in modular sections against the outside of the building, similar to how Lego pieces stack together. Once the structure is in place, the cabin, doors, and mechanical components are installed inside it.
Can a Lego lift be installed on any building in Qatar?
Most existing villas, townhouses, and low-rise commercial buildings in Qatar can accommodate a Lego lift. Al Maamoura’s engineers conduct a site survey to confirm the external wall can support the steel structure, that there is adequate ground space for the foundation, and that doorways can be cut at each floor without compromising the building.
How long does it take to install a Lego lift in Qatar?
Al Maamoura installs Lego lifts in as little as 40 days from order confirmation. Because most of the work happens outside the building, occupied villas and active commercial buildings can usually remain in use throughout the installation.
What is the difference between a Lego lift and a regular elevator?
A regular elevator is installed inside a pre-built internal shaft. A Lego lift is mounted externally on the outside of the building, in its own steel structure, with no internal shaft required. Lego lifts are typically used in existing buildings where there is no original shaft and no internal space available to build one.
